The Ilorin Wedding: Kalthumi Lawals Perspective

Kalthumi Lawal is a beautiful bride. That is just exactly how you say it. Wait for the pictures and decide for yourself.

The daughter of a former Chief of Defence Staff and Governor of Kwara state, Kalthumi’s wedding made the city of Ilorin stand still. I was hired to shoot this wedding from the perspective of the bride by the brides family while the Legendary Nigerian photographer Mubarak, shot the grooms perspective.

It was fun all the way beginning from the family residence of the Lawals, The Admiralty.

This was going to be one hectic day that had to be conquered one step at a time in beautiful shoes This is Kalthumi. No more comments. Beautiful as this bride was she called in the wonderful Abeke to accentuate her beauty. Trust me if you want great wedding makeover call Abeke. She is good.  And she also ties geles ( head gears) well. Before long Kalthumi was ready to run off to the mosque for her Nikkai And what a sight she was to behold.  The Nikkai ceremony held at the Ilorin Central Mosque and it was a solemn affair inside the mosque But there was still time for a brothers laughter family hugs and pictures of long lost friends/ family members The architecture of this edifice was magnificent.  After a long short time, the couple were called upon to collect their certificate of marriage from the chief imam. and they went around to greet the various religious leaders who took out time to attend their wedding ceremony.  The day just began with part one done, Kalthumi had to rush off to get ready for her reception wedding.  Since we didn’t have enough time to do a shoot for her before she went to her Nikkai, we took some few minutes to rush through her bridal shots. And she began the steps of the next half of the day in another beautiful set of shoes.  After  her touch up, Kalthumi rushed into her dress and off to the reception venue we rushed to meet the dignitaries waiting for us.  but not without a stop to take pictures with her dad,  This was one stunning dress and since we didnt have the time to create these shots we hurriedly took pictures of her on her way to church on the grounds of the house.  Mubarak ( if you didn’t know him) was here too covering the wedding and it was fun shooting together The reception location was a beautiful place and the clouds structure of the town of Ilorin made it more so The decor was by Finesse events The bride came in immediatly to start the reception proper and it was all smiles from everyone

A minutes silence was held in honour of the brides dad,  Admiral Lawal a one time Nigeria”s Chief Of Defence Staff and after the Chairman’s speech the generals and all retired military men came up to felicitate with him. It was a full venue. Yinka Ayefele was on hand to thrill the crowd. O! Boy, did they dance?
Kalthumi was in the mood, dancing to the rythm of the song was it blared from the speakers My highlight of this event was the speech read by the chief brides main to the bride, groom and all.
kalthumis tears as she listened were rich and plenty. Finally the toast was given to Long life and prosperity.
This was one beautiful wedding.
